HPG is happy to announce a two-part fall workshop with local mischief maker and ceramist Esther Shimazu! She will be leading a day and a half workshop on how to make your very own freestanding horse or pony. If you’ve seen Esther’s work around town and always wondered how she makes them, now’s your chance to find out! Normally, you’d have to fly to the mainland to take a workshop from her so we feel very fortunate that she’s willing to teach at HPG. 

Participants should have some handbuilding experience but all are welcome.

Dates/Times:

• Sunday, Oct 19, 2025: 9:00 AM-3:00 PM

• Monday, Oct 20, 2025: 5:00 PM-8:00 PM

Location: HPG Handbuilding Studio

Cost: $130/person (members and current students only), fee includes clay.

Supply List

• Favorite handbuilding tools

• Apron

• Piece of canvas or old towel to use as a work surface (optional)

Additional Information:

• This workshop is for members and current students only.

• Maximum enrollment for the workshop is 12.

• You cannot register for only one session.
