Monday
9:00am - 12:00pm
Wheel: Mark White
Mark's class is geared toward beginner and intermediate pottery wheel students. Instruction starts with a focus on the basics of working on the wheel and builds on increasingly interrelated techniques to develop a student’s pottery skills. This includes a mid-session class on techniques for glazing pottery, followed then by a 2nd half of lessons on more advanced forms that students will find challenging and inspiring. The goal is for students to incrementally learn the skills needed to work independently on their own projects. Students should plan on practicing once a week outside of class to build proficiency and confidence. Please do not come to class with long fingernails.
Clay Recommendation is based on skill level: beginners consider Recycled or B-Mix, for others, Soldate or Rods Bod clay. Order 1 bag only to start.
Monday
6:30pm - 9:30pm
wheel: JOEL PARK
This class is for wheel throwers of all skill levels. My objective is to build your abilities so you can create the work you want to make. Strong fundamentals are a large part of the focus for the class as well as new forms. We will be working on utilitarian pieces and decorative work. Most of all my hope is that you enjoy the work and embrace clay as a positive medium.
I suggest for the beginners soldate as a clay body to start as it is easier to throw and form. For the more advanced I suggest working with a body you are comfortable with. I am looking forward to a fun and productive class with you all.
